THE DRAGGING THE GUT   FESTIVAL

Legendary Linfield College Coach Ad Rutschman named Grand Marshal for the 2014 Dragging the Gut Festival. Watch for Coach Rutschman, and his wife Joan, to be driven, in a classic mid-1960s red Cadillac convertible, down McMinnville's Main Street on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 7 p.m.

 

Retired Linfield Coach Ad Rutschman, who never had a losing season in his 24 years at Linfield, has been named the 2014 Grand Marshal for the Dragging the Gut Festival set for Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 (Friday no-host Kickoff Cruise Aug. 22nd). A member of the College, NAIA, and State Hall of Fame, Coach Rutschman is truly a legend in his own time. He is the only coach in the history of college football, on any level, to win both a football and baseball national championship. He lead Linfield baseball to the NAIA national title in 1971 before going on to have three national titles in football. All through his career at Linfield he kept "the Streak" of winning seasons going - now at an unprecedented 58 seasons. The longest such steak in the history of all college football.

 

But winning was only part of the story. He taught and stressed sportsmanship and good citizenship on the Wildcat field dubbed "the Classroom." He's been honored with the "Slats" Gill Man of the Year four times, the Kodak District 8 Football Coach of Year twice, and named the Linfield Alumnus of the year. We're very happy to have as Grand Marshal Coach Ad Rutschman who taught lifetime success with such grace and class - becoming for generations the ultimate role model.
